Saudi Arabia’s Empty Quarter sees camel-racing revival Previous

JEDDAH: In Saudi Arabia’s southernmost point, there is renewed fervor in the otherwise docile town of Sharurah, Najran province.

Camel racing in the region’s famous Empty Quarter is a renowned legacy among the area’s ancient tribes, which were said to have heavily relied on camels in times of war.

Camel racing on these plains dates as far back as 2000 BC, according to historians. Now, thousands of years later, the sport has returned.

Al-Omairi Al-Manhali, a tribal member in the Empty Quarter, said the sport has made a decisive comeback thanks to the passion of long-time residents and the natural beauty of the area, which now hosts big races and the world’s most impressive camels.

Abdul Aziz Al-Saaiari, a camel owner who has taken part in many races, said the country is going through a renaissance in tourism and entertainment thanks to a renewed interest in heritage and the region’s authenticity.

“On the golden desert plains of the Empty Quarter, tribes have been working hard to cultivate modernized sports programs that can attract international investors to this awe-inspiring scene of natural beauty,” he said.

Suleiman Massaad, a camel owner who takes a special interest in the races, said that what makes them stand out is the support of municipal authorities, Najran’s horse council and the country’s camel federation.

The Culture of Camel Racing

Dashing Through the Sand: The Culture of Camel Racing

The UAE is the universal hub for camel research. Our organisation works closely with camel owners, trainers, and the Dubai Camel Racing Club, as they regularly test camels for their paternity as well as for doping.” – Ulrich Wernery, scientific director, Central Veterinary Research Laboratory

Get set, ready…grab onto your seats, and watch the camels go! From royals to rural folk, camel racing in the UAE is an essential element of national culture that’s loved by all Emiratis. Today, it is also a booming business that draws in crowds from around the country and the world. In fact, these events are among the best opportunities in the country to experience an authentic Emirati tradition while mingling with locals, expats, and international visitors.

Delve into this sporting niche and you’ll soon realise there is an intricate method, even an esoteric science behind the on-track mayhem of race day – the Emirates Camel Racing Federation makes stringent camel racing policies while various regional centres are involved in genetically enhancing breeds of superfast dromedaries. And there’s much more to a camel than meets the eye; read on to find out about female empowerment in the world of these showrunners!

Come winter months and it’s a camel extravaganza – there’s a whole lot more buzz about different camel festivals that are often hosted and named after various UAE rulers. Apart from the races, you can indulge in various camel – centric eccentricities here – think beauty
pageants and camel polo! Mahaliyat, Asayel, Muhajanat, and ‘purebreds, ‘interbreds’ or ‘firstborns’ – hang about the camel hippodromes or auctions for a while and you’ll hear these words thrown around in reference to the most coveted racers.

Don’t worry if you missed the Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Camel Race Festival in February – you’re right in time to straddle into the Al Marmoum Heritage Festival. Come ready to be dazzled; amidst the rising dust and flailing lean legs of camels, there’s plenty of glitz to go around with modern sporting embellishments and luxury wins up for grabs. Are you race ready?

A friend in the desert

There’s more to celebrating camels than the races. Emirati heritage galas such as the Al Dhafra Camel Festival proudly showcase such splendours as camel beauty pageants and auctions. As a single camel can fetch well over Dh1 million, contests are taken pretty seriously; the pageant alone presents 50 different competitive categories. No doubt, events with such high stakes pose hurdles and humps of their own; earlier this year, 12 camels were disqualified from a camel beauty competition in Saudi Arabia as owners were found guilty of injecting botox into the animals’ pouts for cosmetic enhancements! It’s not all money, though; for a quirky Arabian spin on a conventional game, try camel polo – the UAE’s most offbeat sport. Similar to its equestrian counterpart, a goal is scored when the player hits the ball or the camel kicks it towards the goal post. This is a good one to try if you’re turning 16 – the age requirement for the activity.

You’re still good to go without any prior training as a thorough briefing is included in pre-game routines.

Across sands of time

To a Bedouin, a camel is more than a loyal pet. Over the centuries, tribes across Arabia owe their survival in part to their herds of camels. Used for transportation, milk, meat, hides or as high value assets, camels have been involved in the everyday customs of desert dwellers. Camel racing has always been a thing, albeit in a very different form from the phenomenon it is today. Sprinting astride a camel was more of an impromptu undertaking enjoyed at social gatherings; during the late 20th century, it grew as an organised sport in Africa, the Middle East, India, and Australia.

In the UAE, camel racing became a priority soon after the nation’s union. Today, the UAE is a leading hub for global camel racing events, regulations, and research. The sport has undergone a massive makeover in the past few decades – from presenting the winning jockey with a small gift (usually food) to now being an internationally-renowned experience that could feature week-long festivities and over 15,000 competing, selectively-bred camels.

Raised for the races

What does it take to get a camel ready for the races? As camel racing has amassed global popularity and value, the UAE has established itself as a premier centre for advancements in the breeding and training of these sure-footed dune dashers. The Veterinary Research Centre (VRC) in Sweihan, Abu Dhabi works on a commercial basis to produce an elite racing lineage using scientific methods like embryo transfers and artificial insemination.

Similarly, the Camel Reproduction Centre in Dubai is at the forefront of research in its field – in 2009, they successfully cloned the world’s first camel, Injaz, and continue to explore ways to enhance desirable sporting traits in runners. This is just the start. From employing
Bedouin tribesmen adept in the art of grooming camel babies into speedy track stars to regimenting diets and conducting specialised treadmill and swimming pool trainings for camels, the UAE is heavily invested in raising powerful, pristine, and race-ready camels.

UAE’s take on the game

While races take place throughout the year, racing season runs from October to April.

Games are usually held on weekends, although there is no set schedule.

There are approximately 15 racetracks spread across the country. Dubai’s Al Marmoom Racetrack is the largest and most popular.

Winners compete for luxury cars, cash prizes (totalling up to Dh80 million), and trophies.

Winning camels are typically bought over by members of the royal family.

In 2002, the UAE became the first country to impose a ban on underage riders. Using robot jockeys is the new norm; they are remote-controlled by trainers who drive alongside the tracks in 4x4s.

The UAE currently has over 14,000 active racing camels.

The A-Z of a typical day at the racecourse

It’s a bright and early start – the morning session races take place between 7.30am and 9.00am.

There are also afternoon sessions commencing at 2.30pm.

A single race may feature between 15 – 60 camels, costumed in multi-coloured garbs and competing in 4 km to 10 km distances.

General admission is free and visitors can watch about two races a day.

Spectators today enjoy modern comforts at the tracks, such as grandstands and giant screens for live broadcasts. Nonetheless, a pair of binoculars is a common accessory to bring along.

Unlike at the horse races, there’s no compulsion to dress to impress. Camel lovers are content to spectate in casual attire.

Fast facts to know

The species originated in North America. The first known camel genus, named ‘Protylopus’, was about the size of a rabbit.

A camel’s hump doesn’t hold water; rather, it stores fatty tissue, allowing the animal to easily adapt to drastic climates and temperatures.

There are two primary camel species today – the dromedary (or Arabian camel) with one hump, and the Bactrian which has two humps.

Camels can run at speeds of up to 65 km/h for short stints or 40 km/h for long distances.

A calf under two years old is not allowed to race as its body is still developing.

Racing is usually limited to dromedaries (which originates from the Greek word ‘dromas’, meaning ‘runner’).

Females are preferred track stars, and have longer careers than the usual 2-3 race years of a male.

Herding for the win: The experts have their say

The Central Veterinary Research Laboratory (CVRL) regularly tests male and female camels for infectious diseases, prior to breeding and there are other centres in Dubai, which perform artificial insemination, embryo transfer and even cloning. The UAE is the universal hub for camel research. Our organisation works closely with camel owners, trainers, and the Dubai Camel Racing Club, as they regularly test camels for their paternity as well as for doping. We have a doping control unit at the Marmoom Race Track.

– Ulrich Wernery, scientific director, Central Veterinary Research Laboratory

Watching the races is always pleasant as you can see the excitement and passion of the people involved. Crowd engagement is awesome; many cheer for the camels that they support while some spend the whole time trying to get a good picture with a camel in the background. At a recent race, tourists were shuttled in buses moving adjacent to the tracks for a close-up race experience. They were ecstatic to say the least. Most spectators are dressed in casual and comfortable wear; although we expect the fashion quotient to rise soon akin to the horse races.

How to Get a Bigger Butt in a Week

How to Get a Bigger Butt in a Week

We all want a big bottom. And nowadays, most anyone can have one with a combo fi exercise, good diet, and plastic surgery regardless of the size of your derriere you were born with.

I’ll be the first to admit. This title is clickbait, your butt won’t grow twice its size in a week, but with time and effort, you will see some major changes in the shape and size of your bottom. These below exercises work the three main muscles in your buttocks: the gluteus medius, the gluteus maximus, and the gluteus minimus. With these workouts, you’ll have buns in no time, hun.

How to Get a Bigger Butt in a Week
How to Get a Bigger Butt in a Week

Tone It Up!

1. Try a weighted squat.  Keep your feet shoulder-width apart. Jut your butt out, making sure your feet parallel are to each other. Lower yourself slowly and keep the weight in front of your chest. Once you’re at a 90 degree angle, hold, clenching your butt muscles, for a while. Do 3 or 4 reps of 14.

  • Keep your weight mainly on your heels, instead of on the balls of your feet.
Make sure your posture is good while squatting. Back straight, head up, chest open, and no slouching. No poor posture here, honey!
  • If you find that squats are your thing, increase the number of reps you do. You can also hold in the sitting squat position, or do pulses during the hardest part of the squat (after lowering yourself).
  • So maybe you don’t have dumbbells. That’s perfectly fine! Use things you can find around your home, like large cans, big college textbooks, or even a jug filled with water. All these things can serve as a decent weight. You could even fill that jug with coins instead of water for extra difficulty.

2. Donkey kick those glutes. Get on your hands and knees, keeping your knees below your hips and your hands in line with your shoulders. With one knee on the floor, life your other leg and flex your abdominal muscles. Keep lifting until your foot id facing the ceiling and your knee is in line with the remainder of your body. Hold position for a while, and then slowly bring your knee back to its original position.

  • For them to be effective, you have to repeat donkey kicks on your other leg. You can do one full set on one leg and switch, or switch them up during the same rep. Whatever you prefer.
  • If you have trouble staying on your hands and knees, get an exercise mat, or kneel on a pillow to alleviate some of the pressure off your knees.

3. Do the butt bridge.  Staying flat on your back, keep your hands on your sides and keep your feet slightly beyond your butt. Your hands should be kept shoulder width apart and kept flat on the floor; palms should face upward, or can be flat on the floor. Whatever makes you comfortable. Slowly lift your hips upward until your torso is either above, or parallel to your legs..

Keep yourself in this position for several seconds, eventually lifting one foot off of the floor. Keep your leg straight and hold it away from your body. Hold. Bring your foot to the floor and slowly lower your hips, keeping your muscles tight. Repeat with both legs; try for 3 reps of ten on each side.

  • You can work your gluteus and your abs, but tightening your abdominal muscles when doing the bridge.
  • To get the full effects of this exercise, keep your posture straight while lifting. Don’t bend your back; keep it straight.

4. Try a  plié squat. You don’t have to be a ballerina to do this move. Begin with your feet a little wider than your shoulders; point your toes outward in a 45 degree angle. To keep you balance, hold your hands out in front of you ballerina style, or to really work your butt, hold a weight in the center of your chest with your hands.  This is different from a normal squat because you need to keep your weight on the balls of your toes and keep your heels off of the floor. When you’ve got the balance thing worked out, jut your butt out and lower yourself down just like a ballerina. You want to emulate sitting down in a chair. Tighten your glutes and thighs as you raise yourself up.

  • To max out the effectiveness of this exercise, keep things slowly and in control. Make sure your abs are taut.

Improve Your Diet

5. Consume high-protein foods. Muscle growth and protein go hand and hand. Alright, that was a bit awkward, but protein is extremely important when it comes to muscle growth.  Namely, the right proteins are important to muscle growth. You can increase the size of your butt with protein and the right exercises.

  • Some healthy proteins to try out are eggs, fish (tuna, salmon), beans, lean meats like beef, legumes, turkey, nuts and some cheeses. Bake your fish instead of frying it.

Pick out the good kinds of fats and carbohydrates.  Most diets will tell you to stop eating fats and carbs and swap them out with healthy choices. Believe it or not, fats and carbs are good for you! Well, some of them are. You should stay away from processed carbs like chips and pasta.

  • Pick healthy carbs like brown rice, sweet potatoes, steel cut oats, quinoa, and whole grain breads.
  • Healthy fats, like coconut and fish oils, nuts, and almond butter, can help you lose weight and tone up your bottom!

7. Load up on veggies.  Vegetables are like the forgotten food that’s good for many different things. They’re especially great when it comes to building muscle. Adding veggies to your meals will give you more energy, and you’ll be able to power through your workouts with ease.

  • Not to mention vegetables help your body digest lots of minerals and nutrients If your body can’t absorb certain compounds like amino acids, your muscle gain won’t be as significant.

8. Pick good supplements.  A good multivitamin can give you a boost of energy while exercising. Taking collagen can firm up your skin and you’re your (butt) muscles look firmed and toned. Protein bars, which are conveniently delicious, aid is the growth of muscles. However, before taking any kind of supplement, consult your physician.

Your Wardrobe Matters

9. Wear butt-lifting underwear.  Yes, butt-lifting undergarments are a thing. They’re made to yank up your booty, making it look perky and full. Think of it as a push-up bra for your derriere. You can get girdles sans padding, or not, and some styles go all the way up to your waist, and make your waist look smaller by cinching it.

10. Try on a girdle.  Girdles are worn under your clothes. They give the illusion of a smaller stomach and large waist by pushing your belly fat down toward your hips.

11. Purchase a good pair of pants.  Poorly made, ill-fitted or baggy jeans will ruin even the biggest of backsides. Find a style of pants that accentuates your butt.

  • Jegging, leggings, tights, and yoga pants are not only comfortable to wear, but they make your booty look great. You can flaunt your hard work without suffocating in a pair of tight jeans.
  • High-waisted jeans make your waist look smaller, and as such your hips will look better.
  • Fitted pants are the way to go. Baggy clothing will cover up your curves, but a good pair of well-fitted jeans will make you look like a goddess, and lift your butt. High-rise, low-rise, it doesn’t really matter; just make sure they’re snug. Not too snug of course. You gotta be able to move.

These eleven moves will help make your butt bigger in a week or less. A good combo of diet, exercise, and a nice pair of jeans will have your backside looking great.

Botcho Cream Can Make Your Butt Bigger?

Botcho Cream Can Make Your Butt Bigger? (The Truth)

You’ve probably heard quite a bit about this new “magic cream” from West Africa called Botcho cream. Maybe it even brings to mind memories of the Egyptian Magic Cream hype a few years ago, and you remember shelling out big bucks for a product that was essentially glorified Vaseline mixed with honey.

While magical maybe, this new cream is called Botcho cream. Fun fact: Botcho is not an ingredient. It’s just a name for a woman’s derriere! At least, that’s what a big you-know-what is called on the Ivory Coasts of West Africa.

The name, and the cream, grew in popularity thanks to based gods Eloh DJ and DJ Mix’s Bobaraba, or big bottom, dance. As such, Botcho cream can also be called Bobaraba cream.

So you’re probably asking yourself what is Botcho cream, since you’ve probably never heard of it. Well, there isn’t just one Botcho cream, but many of them. The original was created by Dr. Zoh, who actually isn’t a doctor according to some research that i did.

However, he did devote himself to the noble cause of making woman’s bottoms bigger despite not ever attending higher education: making an all-natural booty cream made with natural ingredients derived from plants and honey.

Dr. Zoh contrived up the cream after hearing about how his fellow African sisters wanted curvier figures. He mixed the ingredients himself, using ingredients from his grandparents countryside, and recommends applying it twice daily. Apparently, it works right away.

Still not sure what this cream is, or what’s inside of it? Well, me neither, but Dr. Zoh boasts that his customers are happy and satisfied with the results (and they are).

So do we recommend it? Well, yes and no (sorry to be so wishy-washy). Until we learn more about the ingredients that compose Botcho cream, we can’t give a recommendation in good faith. But the cream is supposedly made from all-natural ingredients and, if that’s the case, can’t do too much harm to your backside. Maybe.

If you want to try out the products for yourself (and your derriere) we found a few places that seemed to be trustworthy.

BOTCHOPLUS

This is a bit more “legit” in fact BotchoPlus is a well-known Botcho product, because *drum roll please* we know what’s in it! The seller of Botcho Plus boasts the product as being an improved version of Dr. Zoh’s original Botcho cream.

If BotchoPlus can be trusted, then that mean Botcho cream is probably just Pueraria Mirifica, which contains plant-based estrogen that wounds the hips and increases fat on the booty. In other words, Botcho Cream is probably fairly safe to use.

The ingredients listed on the website aside from that P-word we can’t pronounce are a blend of herbs and oils from South American And Africa, and Volufiline (yeah, I can’t pronounce that either). Volufiline is a non-hormonal plant-based extract that increases the development of fatty tissue. It has been shown to plump your bottom and make your butt bigger.

Sounds good right? Wrong. See, this is why you do your research folks. Nobody knows where BotchoPlus gets there Pueraria Mirifica (PM), and it’s pretty important to know how this stuff is farmed and where it comes from. If you’re interested in PM, you’re better off skipping the extra additives and getting some high-quality PM from a place you trust. It’s cheaper too and you know it will work.

BEAUTY BY NATUREM

Alright, so the sellers name is Myam Miam and she doesn’t tell you what the ingredients in her Botcho cream are. However, she is from the Ivory Coast and on her official website is a video where Dr. Zoh talks about Myam Miam. So there’s that.

However, this falls under a buy-at-your-own-risk sort of situation. Myam Miam is selling what at least appears to be the original cream, but at nearly three times the price (it runs anywhere from $60 to $70 a jar, which is not cheap to say the least). Always do your own research before buying anything.
Don’t trust anything on the Internet. Even this.

So What’s My Final Say?

butt program

So what’s the verdict? Botcho creams are a meh from me. They aren’t trustworthy (don’t know what’s in them exactly) and it’s hard to find reputable online sources that sell them.

If you’re extremely desperate to make your butt bigger, follwo my program Combined with a healthy diet, full of vegetables, protein, and fruits, and watch your bottom swell. Or get plastic surgery (no shame, no judgement here) to get a booty like Kim Kardashian, or Nicki Minaj.

Or try making your own DIY version of Botcho cream. Get some PM, an Emu oil, some herbs, and honey and make yourself some booty cream. You’ll know exactly what you’re putting on your backside and you’ll be saving a whole lot of money.

Founder In Horses

What is Founder?:

Founder occurs due to the lack of blood flow in the laminae which produces inflammation in the hoof. As time goes by, the cells of the laminae are damaged due to the lack of oxygen and nutrients that are found in the blood. If the problem is not treated in the early stages of founder, the laminae will start to die and cause more problems along with pain. When the laminae die, the coffin bone can no longer support the weight of the horse. Sometimes the coffin bone can protrude through the sole, resulting in a possible irreversible case of lameness and excruciating pain.

Founder (aka laminitis) in horses is a very serious condition of the foot caused by the coffin bone rotating and pointing towards the horse’s sole. This is extremely painful and in some instances it may be necessary to euthanize the horse.

founder

The Symptoms of Founder in Horses:

Founder can happen in any of hoof, but most often it happens in the front. Some of the most common signs and symptons of founder are:

  1. Sudden lameness
  2. Reluctance to walk or move
  3. Laying down more often
  4. Pulse felt in the foot Alternating weight from leg to leg Does not want to lift, bend, or raise a leg
  5. Warm/hot hoof
  6. Obvious pain when standing or moving
  7. Standing with front legs out in front of their body
  8. Movement or rotation of coffin bone
  9. Standing with both front and rear legs under their body

Types Of Founder:

  1. Acute founder is the sudden breakdown of the attachment between the hoof and the laminae (coffin bone)
  2. Chronic founder is the continuation of acute laminitis past the 72 hourmark
  3. Support-limb founder happens to the healthy hoof that must bear the weight of an injured hoof

The Causes of Founder:

  1. Feeding your horse large amounts of soluble carbohydrates could cause an overload of undigested sugars and starches
  2. High fever or illness that causes equine metabolic syndrome (EMS)
  3. Severe cases of colic such as stress from travelling, foaling, or changes in the horses environment
  4. Infections such as a severe bacterial infection can cause blood poisoning (toxemia) and founder
  5. Working too hard or fast for a long period of time
  6. Cushing’s disease is a pituitary gland disease that causes increased hunger, thirst, sweating, and weight loss… and possibly founder.
founder

Diagnosis of Founder:

Be prepared to tell your veterinarian your horse’s medical history along with their vaccination history. This will give your vet a head start prior to a comprehensive physical and lameness examination which includes palpation of certain areas for pain, heat, and inflammation. A static flexion will also be done to check out the range of motion. The veterinarian will ask you to trot your horse off to observe the horse in motion. A hoof tester  is used next to put pressure on certain areas of the foot to find the exact location. In addition, the veterinarian will need to get x-rays of the hoof to check the alignment of the coffin bone and may also do an ultrasound as well for a more detailed view.

Treatment of Founder in Horses Treatment of founder depends on the cause. The underlying problem must be treated at the same time to ensure success.

Medications To Be Used:

Your veterinarian will first administer a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) to relieve inflammation and pain. A thyroid supplement will be given only if your horse is found to have Cushing’s disease. Heel wedge Cuffs, heart bar shoes or foam supports can be used for support. Sole putty can be used from the heels to the tip of the frog to provide support to the frog.

Cold Therapy– A MUST:

The number one way to administer cold therapy is by immersing your horse’s hoof in ice water on and off for at least three full days. Twenty minutes in ice, then thirty minutes out and keep repeating.  You will have to consistently replace the ice to keep the water temperature below 40 degrees Fahrenheit.

founder

Absolute Stall Rest:

Keep your horse in a quiet stall with enough bedding to support the frog. Your veterinarian will most likely suggest this for at least one week to one month.

Surgery Options:

There are few options for surgery such are a hoof wall resection or deep digital flexor tenotomy.

Recovery of Foundered Horses:

The prognosis for a foundered horse is guarded. While some horses may be able to withstand the treatment or even heal on their own, others may never come sound and be in constant pain and therefore may need to be euthanized.

Horse And CBD

What are Cannabinoids?

Cannabinoids are chemical compounds that are found in cannabis and hemp. They match and map to endocannabinoids in the ECS (Endocannabinoid System) found in all mammals. These systems are not identical across each species, but they do function in much the same way.

Phytocannabinoids trigger an entire inventory of medical therapeutic applications. THC is the best known of all of these elements, but it’s the one that produces the psychoactive effects that placed it on the FDA’s Schedule 1 of drugs. Hemp, on the other hand, has less than .3% THC, and more importantly, Hemp-extracted CBD-oil is legal in all 50 states.

The ECS is common to mammals. It involves their brains, nervous systems, organs and immune systems in many extensive and complex ways. The prescription medications used to treat medical conditions must be processed by the horse’s physiology, but cannabinoids and phytocannabinoids are simply assimilated.

Cannabinoids and their effects on animals:

An extremely extensive study done in 1999 about Cannabinoids and Animal Physiology concluded with the following highlights:

“Cannabinoids likely have a natural role in pain modulation, control of movement, and memory.

The natural role of cannabinoids in immune systems is likely multi-faceted and remains unclear.

The brain develops tolerance to cannabinoids.

Animal research has demonstrated the potential for dependence, but this potential is observed under a narrower range of conditions than with benzodiazepines, opiates, cocaine, or nicotine.

Withdrawal symptoms can be observed in animals but appear mild compared with those of withdrawal from opiates or benzodiazepines, such as diazepam (Valium).”

The research has been focused on the reaction of lab animals, but there are fundamental commonalities in the physiology of lab animals, domestic pets and livestock.

Cannabinoids and their effects on horses:

Horses constantly live in a state of “fight or flight.” They have instinctive fears of falling or tripping. Having no ability to see behind them, they worry about what’s going on behind them… and if you have been around horses enough, you realize they really would prefer to run wild.

In addition to their anxiety and stress, horses are subject to a large amount of medical problems: arthritis, herd bound issues, muscle soreness, chronic laminitis, stall rest, trailering stress and much more.

Equine Arthritis: Aging horses develop Degenerative Joint Disease (DID) along with Traumatic Joint Disease – that appears as pain, swollen joints, and stiffness.

Chronic Laminitis: According to the American Association of Equine Practitioners -Laminitis results from the disruption of blood flow to the sensitive and insensitive laminae. These laminae structures within the foot secure the coffin bone to the hoof wall. Inflammation often permanently weakens the laminae and interferes with the wall-bone bond. In very severe cases, the hoof wall and bone can separate. Among other causes, laminitis relates to aging, digestive issues, and severe colic.

Herd Bound Issues: Horses are prey animals that find comfort in membership in a herd with other horses. They are social in their fear, so they suffer anxiety when separated from the horse social circle.

Muscle Soreness: Horses suffer muscle pain and strain, especially after exercise. It is usually relieved with physiotherapy and rest. Riders and owners are often unaware of the pain horses feel around the saddle area and in their legs following an active ride.

Stall Rest: Equiresearch explains, “Weeks of cooped-up idleness can make your horse aggressive, anxious, or dull, and can even interfere with his healing unless you anticipate and counteract the effects of confinement.”

Trailering Stress: Horses, for the most part, are claustrophobic.  As a prey animal, they instinctively prefer wide open spaces. Tight, mobile areas stress them because they restrict an escape route and even the room to turn around. In addition to that, horses have long memories of uncomfortable and unstable rides from their past.

CBD (cannabidiol) has proven beneficial effects for all these conditions and more. In horses and other mammals, CBD-rich extracts can help to treat:

  • Anxiety
  • Inflammation
  • Chronic Pain
  • Separation Anxiety/ Generalized Anxiety
  • Digestion and Appetite
  • Arthritis
  • Nausea
  • Seizures

The values in CBD Oil:

CBD is the non-psychoactive compound found in the cannabis sativa plant and hemp. CBD oil is an extract that does NOT include the psychoactive THC.  Equine researchers and veterinarians have become very interested in the health benefits following the administration of full-spectrum CBD oil.

Full-spectrum CBD oil for horses will act as an analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anti-anxiolytic, anticonvulsant antiemetic, and anti-tumoral therapy.  It produces no negative side effects and it can be administered orally.

Due to its strictly natural origin and production, the FEI and U.S. Equestrian Federation (USEF) do not list it as a prohibited supplement in competition rules (although you may want to double check the regulations at your local competition).

At its core, CBD oil treats a broad spectrum of anxiety related issues in horses, thoroughbreds, quarter horses and also pets.

10 HYDROGEL INJECTION TIPS YOU SHOULD KNOW

In the search for the perfect tush, hydrogel injections have gotten a lot of media coverage lately. Though some claim that hydrogel injections are the perfect quick, minimally-invasive solution for those lacking in the booty area, others warn that hydrogel isn’t the best choice for scoring a rounder rump. At best, it’s a temporary solution; at worst, hydrogel injections in your butt could lead to a rear that ends up looking saggier than before. These facts will help you separate truth from fiction and make the best choice you can for your own body.

1. IT’S RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE.

High-quality hydrogel costs around $500 per cc of gel. Most butt injections take at least 500 cc’s of material. That means that your average hydrogel butt job would cost upwards of $1 million.

2. THOSE WHO CLAIM TO DO CHEAP HYDROGEL BUTT ENHANCEMENTS ARE UNLIKELY TO BE CERTIFIED OR SAFE.

“Backdoor butt jobs” often use gels that aren’t safe for injection and result in unpredictable, inconsistent results, as well as infection, swelling, and other problems. Those who provide cheap butt lifts are operating illegally and unsafely, and you’re not likely to be happy with the results.

3. HYDROGEL INJECTIONS AREN’T ILLEGAL.

Though many have been claiming this lately, hydrogel injections are FDA approved for cosmetic surgery–but they are typically used in facial procedures like lip or cheek injections. Juvederm© and Restylane© are a couple of the most popular options.

4. HYDROGEL INJECTIONS AREN’T THE SAME AS FAT TRANSFER.

Fat transfer involves harvesting your own fat through liposuction, processing it, and reinjecting it into your buttocks to get the shape you want. Fat transfer procedures last longer and are typically received much better than gels, if only because they use cells from your own body; the risk of hematoma, swelling, and other problems is much lower. Hydrogels are synthetic compounds that your body may or may not respond to.

5. ANYONE OFFERING BUTT INJECTIONS SHOULD BE A BOARD CERTIFIED PLASTIC SURGEON.

Anyone who’s unwilling to provide their credentials is probably not qualified to perform the procedure safely, like this person (ABC News) who was arrested a few years ago. Ask critical questions and look for documentation, and if your provider can’t provide it, hit the high road–you don’t want to trust your booty’s looks to them.

6. YOU HAVE OTHER OPTIONS.

There are far safer, more effective ways to build a better butt than don’t require injections or high-cost, risky procedures. A combination of diet and exercise and the use of butt enhancement pills and supplements is often all you need to get a perkier, curvier butt in a few months–no invasive procedures necessary.

7. HYDROGEL USUALLY ONLY LASTS ABOUT 18 MONTHS, AT BEST.

Fat transfer last significantly longer and may even be permanent, but hydrogel injections are notoriously temporary (ask discussed on CosmeticSurgery.com), no matter where they’re administered.

8. HYDROGEL BUTT INJECTION KITS CAN BE INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS.

Look up hydrogel butt injection kits online, and you’ll find options you can inject yourself–but those options contain questionable materials and results will be far less than reliable.

9. BUTT CREAMS ARE A SMART ALTERNATIVE.

Butt creams, applied topically twice a day, work to plump up your body’s own fat cells rather than adding silicone or other injectables under the skin. It’ll take a few months to see results, but those results are permanent–and achieved safely. Butt creams also make your skin look healthier and firmer.

10. BUTT PILLS SOMETIMES WORK JUST ASWE LL, WITH LITTLE TO NO RISK OF COMPLICATION.

Getting the booty you’ve always dreamed of is sometimes as simple as popping a pill. Butt enhancement supplements are totally safe and work by boosting your body’s estrogen levels, which causes fat retention in the butt and hip area, the places women naturally tend to retain more fat. That means a rounder, curvier butt with no needles needed!

Hydrogel injections are suddenly getting a lot of hype. But are Hydrogel Injections Legal? You see ads for the HGel kits that you can purchase online and injection procedures that are touted on Facebook, Twitter, craigslist and in other venues.

Many people are trying them out to get a bigger butt without doing the work of exercise and proper diet. But, are these things even legal? And, more importantly, are they safe? Read on to learn about this procedure and the reasons you should avoid it.

WHAT’S IN HYDROGEL?

what-is-actually-in-a-butt-injection

Hydrogel is liquid silicone. This is the same thing that is in silicone breast implants. However, instead of being encased in an implant, the liquid is injected directly into your butt. Direct injections can lead to infections, allergic reactions and worse.

If liquid silicone doesn’t sound dangerous enough, there are people doing butt injections using even scarier materials. In one Miami case, the practitioner, a nurse, was using a toxic cocktail of super glue, silicone, rubber cement and Fix-a-Flat.

ARE THESE INJECTIONS LEGAL?

In a word, no. The FDA has not approved Hydrogel injections because of the safety issues involved. The only approved medical use of injectable liquid silicone is for holding on detached retinas. If you see someone advertising that they are licensed to do the procedure, they are lying. While some doctors have used it off label as a cosmetic filler, the procedure is highly criticized.

Liquid silicone is not well tolerated by many people, and can cause serious reactions. In many cases, it leads to swelling, inflammation and distortions in the area where it is injected. In some severe cases, injections can result in death.

A number of people who have performed Hydrogel butt injections have been arrested for it. Many are charged with practicing medicine without a license. In others, they have seriously injured or even killed their clients and are then tried for manslaughter.

SO, WHO’S DOING THESE INJECTIONS?

Over the summer, a doctor who was providing Hydrogelinjections off the books was arrested after a patient died. In many cases, however, the people doing the injections have no medical training whatsoever. Last year in Texas, two women were arrested for running an illegal butt injection service and leaving one client dead from a negative reaction.

The women turned out to have no medical credentials and long criminal histories that included robbery, prostitution and assault. In their arrest affidavit, a past client described a butt injection procedure that was performed in the back room of a business.

There was no sterilization, and the syringes used for the injection were refilled over and over without being removed. The patient was given cotton balls and super glue to close the wound.

The only process approved by the FDA is the Brazilian Butt Lift. In this procedure, fat from other parts of your body is extracted using liposuction. Then, it is put back in through a booty injection. The procedure is available from licensed plastic surgeons and can cost $5000 or more. It can be done under local or general anesthesia. Soreness and bruising usually last around three weeks.

The promised quick results and the relative affordability of Hydrogel have swayed many people toward the procedure. But, the risks and illegality make it a bad idea for anyone who values their health and safety. We recommend giving this one a pass.
