Description
Oxytocin increases the tone and enhances the contraction of the smooth muscles of the uterus. It also causes contraction of myoepithelial cells surrounding the alveoli of the mammary gland (which facilitates the movement of milk into large ducts and milk sinuses), has weak vasopressin-like, antidiuretic properties. Recommendations for use
The drug is used intramuscularly or subcutaneously, once in doses (per animal): cows, mares – (30-60) units; ewes, goats (10-15) units; sows – (20-30) units; females – (5-10) units; cats – (2-3) ED.
